The pandemic has taught us various lessons, from understanding priorities, balancing work and family, resilience, compassion to perhaps much harder lessons of dealing with loss. This talk provides an opportunity to reflect on the current situation, to absorb it with a positive spin and emerge stronger. The speaker will share inspiring pointers on this current topic.
 
 
Speaker:  Sister Vedanti, a woman of vision, resilience, courage and determination - balanced with a humble and loving nature, is the Regional Director of the Brahma Kumaris in Africa. 
In 1986, during the UN declared, International Year of Peace, Sister Vedanti headed the Million Minutes of Peace program in Africa. During this time, she met several leaders in Africa, including the then Presidents of Kenya, Liberia and Uganda. It was during one of those meetings that his Excellency President Daniel Arap Moi of Kenya had given Sister Vedanti the title "Mama Vedanti - the flying Nun."
Inspired by the global project of the Brahma Kumaris in the late 80’s, Global Co-operation for a Better World, Sister Vedanti facilitated the construction of the Global Museum in 1991 in Nairobi.  Subsequently in 2011 Global Museum was extended and the Serve Africa Retreat Centre was established. 
In 2004 Sr Vedanti became a member of the Africa Board & Executive committee of the Serve Africa Project, an initiative of the Brahma Kumaris to offer their services to all countries within Africa.  Within 2 years 40 countries were visited and centres established in the majority of the countries. 
In 2012, as Kenya was preparing for their general elections, Sr Vedanti initiated the Write to God Project.  It was a simple call to people to take a moment to reflect, connect with God, and write a letter of hope for peace. 
In 2017 during the 2nd Presidential Elections Sr Vedanti initiated the Pause for Peace Project in Nairobi which provided a platform for Kenyans to create a Peaceful and Positive Change within the self, family and country.
She has travelled to over 80 countries and lectured extensively throughout Africa as well as in the USA, UK, Europe, the Far East, Middle East, Australia, India, North, South & Central America and Russia etc.
