Gil Fernandes was born in Portugal, Lisbon in 1969. After finishing the equivalent to the UK’s A-Levels, he studied music in Austria, but later switched careers to become a software developer. He has been working in IT since 2000 in different types of industries, including airspace, telecom, etc. In 2007 Gil moved to London to work in a small consulting software development company founded by Shashin Shah, who is also a consultant and meditator.
 
In 1993 he started his journey as a meditator and continued being one until the present day. But even before 1993, Gil was fascinated by Raja Yoga (Yoga of the mind). Gil still thinks to the present day that understanding the mind and using it to its best capacity is vital for our well-being.
